The toys are back in town!
14 years after its original release, Pixar’s first full length animation returns to delight a whole new generation, and this time it’s in 3D. The 3D’s not flashy with images leaping out of the screen, but it’s used brilliantly to give everything more depth and substance. However, 3D or not, what really matters is that the film is every bit as fresh now as it was in 1995 with its story about cowboy doll Woody (Tom Hanks) who feels threatened when he thinks he’s being replaced as Andy’s favourite by Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen) a deluded action figure who doesn’t realise he’s actually a toy. A story about envy, jealousy, friendship, and learning to work together, it’s funny, scary, exciting and it still brings a lump to your throat. A classic to infinity and beyond.
Next year also sees the 3D reissue of Toy Story 2 and the all new Toy Story 3.
