Junior Go Ape! Tree Top Adventures at Moors Valley Country Park, near Ringwood, Hampshire

We arrived at Moors Valley Country Park not really knowing what to expect but with two very excited children aged 9 and 7 there was no turning back once they had seen the high wires and cross crossing walk ways through the trees. The Junior Go Ape! is for children up to 10 years of age and is perfect for children over 7 who have a bit of sense of adventure and even for those who don't by the time they have completed the course - which takes about an hour - they will!

At the reception the staff are extremely friendly and gave us all a safety briefing and told us about our helmets and harnesses which need to remain fixed to the wires at all times. Looking up for, the ground it all looks quite easy but once you are actually in the trees, over 30 metres above ground level, and crossing your first wobbling wooden bridge you realise why it's called Go Ape; act Iike a primate and you will have a fabulous time swinging through the trees. This is the parent point of view - my chidlren had no such worries and absolutely loved being so high up!

There are step ladders strung between trees, tunnels to crawl through, wires to swing across, net walls to negotiate and, luckily for me, platforms at each tree to take a breather. The final part of the tree top adventure is a massive zip wire to take you out of the trees to the ground and it is worth the few moments of fear on the circuit round to experience this final decent. My kids loved it and so did I - as soon as you are down you want to do it all over again and act like an ape! There's a certificate and a badge for the kids once they finish and luckily there is a Go Ape next door for older kids over 10 and taller than 140 cm high in need of a greater challenge.

It's a fabulous day out with the kids. You can take a picnic and after Go Ape enjoy lunch al fresco in one of the many picnic areas in the park while the children do some more running around. Perfect!
