Don't miss the outdoor World War One replica trench system if you're planning a day out with the kids in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire. Located next to the Potteries Museum & Art Gallery in the city centre, it marks the centenary of the outbreak of the First World War in 1914. Atmospheric and thought-provoking, the replica trench system will offer visitors of all ages the chance to learn about the conditions experienced by soldiers on the front line. Every Saturday and Sunday! Keen to get the kids out into the great outdoors? Interested in discovering more about the countryside and farming? Take the kids to Lower Drayton Farm for a great family day out. Designed for children of nursery and primary-school age, this friendly working farm attraction offers the opportunity to meet and learn about animals including goats, pigs, llamas, sheep, geese, ponies, chickens and more. As part of the experience, families will also be able to board the farm trailer ride for a fun and educational tour of the 600-acre beef and arable farm. Farmer Ray will guide you through what's going on at the time of year you are visiting and answer any questions you may have. Check out the nature trail, woodland walk and adventure playground. From July to October there's also the challenge of the Maize Maze. There are always plenty of fun seasonal craft activities available and the chance for children to have a ride on friendly ponies (weather permitting).
