Sky and WWF, in partnership with the Forestry Commission, have launched a series of Discovery Trails across England to inspire you to get out into your local forest and learn why they and the Amazon rainforest are so special. Take part in the Discovery Trail at Cannock Chase and you (and your family) can listen to amazing wildlife sounds or simply learn and compare what products come from the rainforest. Along the trail you will also be able to take a photo in an Amazon rainforest setting and have the opportunity to test your knowledge on forests in England and of course the Amazon. Did you know the Amazon is home to around 30 million people? This is just one of the many amazing facts you can learn on your journey.

Take the family to Drayton Manor and enjoy the 'Milkshake Bop in the Park' show. The 15-minute shows will be performed regularly throughout the day, usually at weekends. There will be five characters joining in the fun, with a different one featuring in each show throughout the day. See television favourites such as Noddy, Little Princess, Fireman Sam, Toby from Toby's Travelling Circus and even Milkshake Monkey up close. See attraction details26 May 2014 - 27 October 2014 - WWI DISCOVERY DAYS AT THE STAFFORDSHIRE REGIMENT MUSEUM
Uniformed guides will take families on a detailed tour of the Museum's fantastic WW1 trench system, and describe what life was like for soldiers during the Great War. Ammunition boxes are strewn around, sandbags line the walls, original signage points the way as the visitor is immersed in a professionally created soundscape that takes you straight to the trenches of WWI France. Parents and children will also get the chance to try on uniforms, as well as handle weapons and equipment from the time, plus explore the museum and its fascinating collections. Experience the great outdoors while learning about animals, farming and the role it plays in conservation. At Lower Drayton Farm there's plenty to keep the whole family occupied this summer. Follow the woodland trail, hop onto the farm trailer ride for a fun and educational tour of the farm, meet friendly animals before letting the kids explore the adventure play ground with its swings and zip wire 'death slide'. Younger children will enjoy the ride-on tractors and special toddlers' play area with sand pit, while the new indoor play room provides somewhere for babies to play and often has arts and craft activities for youngsters to enjoy. This year the National Forest Adventure Farm's ten-acre maize maze is celebrating the release of The Scarecrows' Wedding, the new picture book from the creators of The Gruffalo and Stick Man, Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. The maze design recreates the front cover of the book and features three miles of pathways, bridges and viewing towers. Try the quiz trail along the way and help Harry O'Hay find all the items he needs to create the perfect wedding day. There will also be a shorter mini maze in the shape of a flower - ideal for families with younger children and those who simply fancy a sedate stroll.
