The informative exhibition will explore how the conflict accelerated social change, the impact of aerial bombardment on life at home and sheltering on the Tube, as well as rationing – both of which were introduced for the first time in the First World War. The exhibition will particularly focus on the lives of women who were employed on a large scale to do the jobs previously occupied by men, including working as bus conductors and mechanics on London buses and as porters and guards on the Underground. A century on from the start of WW1, this is an exhibition looking at the memorials dedicated to those who lost their lives during World War I. By the time the war had ended 5 years later, 900,000 British soldiers had been killed. With over 18,000 of the war dead came from Glasgow, this exhibition commemorates them with memorials were set up across the city. Presented as a range of photographs, it features memorials from across Glasgow, ranging from simple plaques to grand public monuments and stained glass windows. A few also mark the important role that women played, both as field nurses and munitions workers.

Revealing the amazing stories behind some of the UK's best-loved dolls' houses, taking you on a journey through the history of the home, everyday lives and changing family relationships. Stories about 12 houses from the past 300 years will be brought to life by the characters that live or work there. Meet the residents, and discover tales of marriages and parties, politics and crime. Featured will be country mansions, the Georgian town house, suburban villas, newly-built council estates and high-rise apartments. The houses will also show developments in architecture and design.Around 1,900 objects have been restored over the last two years in the V&A conservation department including furntiure and dolls. There will be a chance to see more of the Museum of Childhood's extensive collection of dolls' houses in the permanent galleries, where a further 20 will be displayed.

Luckily his friends surprise him with a party, gifts and lots of food. And you can join in the party by tucking into the party food on display, made by pupils from Rushmore Primary School and St John’s Primary. Adults and kids alike will enjoy exploring the different types of birthday on offer, and of course a party ring or two.

Packed with family activities, Bwlch Nant yr Arian Forest Visitor Centre is a great day out with the kids. A highlight is likely to be watching the red kites being fed. Feeding takes place daily at 2pm in winter and 3pm in summer. All ages will be fascinated by the sight of well over 100 kites coming in to feed on off-cuts of beef scattered over the grassy feeding area on the lakeside.
