I recently took my son to the beautiful Garrick theatre in the West End to see Horrible Histories Barmy Britain. What an inspirational and wonderful show!
The show relayed Britain's history from the Romans right through to the First World War including a very useful and entertaining song detailing the fate the of each of King Henry VIII’s wives . Presented in a series of cleaver funny sketches, with lots of emphises on the really gory and revolting bits, made this a performance which the children obviously enjoyed.
Barmy Britain is preformed by just two actors Lauryn Redding and Benedict Martin. With the many costume changes, superb acting, cleaver props, great rapport and the fast moving pace, you totally forget this is the case. The songs are light hearted, catchy and filled with so many historical facts.
It was wonderful to see all the children thoroughly enjoying education bought to life in this cleaver way. With the many comical references throughout the performance for the adults too, makes this something that can genuinely be enjoyed by the whole family. I would certainly recommend this inspiring hour long show for children of all ages!
