Throughout the summer months there are an amazing number of fabulous airshows throughout the United Kingdom - including some great events at active RAF stations to increase public awareness and understanding of the Airforce and its role today - others at both larger and smaller civilian airfields with a huge range of aircraft from veteran and vintage types to the most modern fast jets. Here Let's Go with the Children have highlighted some exciting and spine-tingling family days out.

Not necessarily just for the boy's, airshows have something for everyone. See amazing displays by the fabulous Red Arrows and other top aerobatic teams from all over the world, static aircraft to explore, flight simulators to experience the thrills of flying, fun fairs and masses of other attractions to give you an unforgettable day out with the children. The Royal International Air Tattoo
7th-8th July 2012, RAF Fairford, Nr Swindon

Military & Flying Machines Show
4th -5th August 2012, Damyns Hall Aerodrome Upminster
Military & Flying Machines Show, the fastest growing military show in Essex and is proudly listed as a “parallel event” for the 2012 Olympics and featured on the BBC “Things to do” and “Hands on History”. It is the only air display featuring both the Sally B and BBMF Lancaster over that period. The show provides a great family day out at a family-friendly price with classic vehicles, displays family and collectors stalls, live entertainment, scale model exhibition and living history, we are also welcoming many visitors to the Olympics who will take the time out to visit this magnificent and hugely entertaining show and sample a little bit of British heritage, history and hospitality.

RNAS Yeovilton International Air Day
23rd June 2012 Yeovilton, Somerset
Few events can rival the intensity, drama and spectacle on offer at the Royal Navy’s premier air show. Alongside the thrilling flying display there’s plenty to see and do on the ground – so whether you’re a wide-eyed first timer or a seasoned air show veteran, the experience will be amazing. Air Day 2012 will be commemorating the 30th anniversary of the Falkland’s Campaign with an exciting flying and static display of fast jets, helicopters, warbirds, classic jets and formation aerobatic teams. Undoubtedly the stars of the show, making their Air Day debut, are the Royal Saudi Air Force Saudi Hawk Display Team. The event will culminate with the traditional Commando Assault demonstration with plenty of aircraft, troops and pyrotechnics!

The 2012 RAF Waddington International Air Show will take place on 30th June - 1st July 2012 at RAF Waddington, 3 miles south of Lincoln! A seven-hour international flying display includes the fabulous Red Arrows, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and the RAF Falcons free fall parachute team, over 100 aircraft on static display, more than 250 trade stalls, funfair and classic cars.

Folkestone Jubilee Airshow on 2nd June kick-starts at 1pm with the Red Arrows in an exciting seven-man spectacle. There will be leading aircraft teams, the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight and the Brietling Wing Walking Duo to name a few. Along The Leas and Folkestone seafront attractions include vintage cars, static aircraft displays, flight simulators, a fairground plus much more.

The kids will just love seeing The Red Arrows amazing aerobatics. They are one of the world’s premier aerobatic teams and in 2012, their 48th display season, their daring feats will be captivating and inspiring millions with a series of over 70 displays and flypasts at a wide variety of events.
